Is street ice safe? Yes, if it is cylindrical (machine-made). Avoid chipped block ice. Food and Dining Danang standards have improved, but caution is wise. We recommend drinking bottled water or cold beer/soft drinks at street stalls.

🧻 The “Wet Wipe” Charge

At most local restaurants, the wet wipe (khan lanh) on the table is not free. It costs about 2,000 – 5,000 VND. Peanuts/quail eggs are also charged if you eat them. This is standard practice, not a scam.

Is tap water safe to drink?

No. Do not drink tap water. Use bottled water for drinking and brushing teeth. Boiling tap water is safe for tea/coffee. Most hotels provide 2 free bottles daily.

Do I need to tip?

Tipping is not mandatory but appreciated. For street food, it is not expected. For sit-down restaurants, leaving 5-10% or the loose change is a kind gesture for good service.

Are there vegetarian options?
